The 300,000 SF renovation and addition to Georgia Tech’s Campus Recreation Center cost 37.25 million. The renovation and addition required reuse of the 1996 Olympic aquatic venue and had significant challenges to overcome. The result is a state-of-the-art facility which includes a natatorium, six court gymnasium, multipurpose court, a fitness center, six meeting rooms, three group exercise studios, elevated walk/jog track, game room, outdoor recreation center, cafe, and administration offices.
Ballard*King & Associates received a 2006 Facility of Merit Award for recognition of an outstanding sports/recreation facility, for the Georgia Institute of Technology Campus Recreation Center Renovation and Expansion.
B*K worked with a large project team to complete an assessment of the existing student recreation center and the attached Olympic Aquatic Center to determine strengths and weaknesses, staffing analysis, operations policies and overall marketing plans. Based on the concept plan for the new facility, an operations pro-forma was developed. Additionally, an operations audit was conducted for the facility.
