The St. Peters REC-PLEX was one of the first “all-encompassing” recreation facilities in the Greater St. Louis area. The REC-PLEX was also one of B*K’s earliest feasibility studies. This is a special facility for B*K, as founding partner Jeff King was the Recreation Director for the facility for the first 7 years of operation and Darin Barr served as the Aquatic Director.

The facility is home to family recreation and athletic events. Originally built in 1994, the Rec-Plex nearly doubled in size to 230,000 SF with an expansion in 2007. There are few facilities that offer all that the Rec-Plex does, from a world-class natatorium for swimming and diving to NHL-size ice rinks it is equipped to host regional, national, and world-class athletic events.

In 1994, the U.S. Olympic Festival aquatic events and the 2004 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials were held at the center. Additionally, the Rec-Plex is home to numerous local schools and athletic clubs for swimming, diving, hockey, and figure skating.

Ballard*King & Associates provided the following services for the REC-PLEX: market analysis and operations pro-forma, pre-opening planning, staff recruitment, equipment specifications, opening celebration, and operating policies and procedures.
