This 1997 Athletic Business Facility of Merit Award winning facility hosts approximately 170, 000 visitors per year. The 2, 000 SF leisure pool is one of the aquatic center favorites. This was added due to citizen input and to provide a source of revenue. Construction on Phase II, the 2, 200 SF indoor leisure pool, began in February 1996. As high schools were offering competitive swimming, the citizen’s committee realized the need to provide recreational swimming and a building component that could generate revenue and help recover the cost of operations. The pool includes a two-story water slide, lazy river current channel, whirlpool spa, interactive water playground, vortex, three 25-yard lap lanes, and sundeck. In addition to the aquatic component the facility amenities include gymnasium, fitness space, childcare room, multi-purpose rooms, locker rooms and administrative rooms.
B*K completed a comprehensive feasibility study for this facility including market analysis, programming, needs assessment and operations pro-forma. Additional assistance was provided for facility opening.
