The University of Houston housed two aquatic facilities on campus. The first and older of the two facilities, Melcher Pool was run by the Human Development and Performance Department and consisted of a 6-lane 25-yard lap pool and separate diving well. The second and newer having opened in the early 2000s was the Student Recreation & Wellness Center which housed an indoor 70M x 25Y stretch with 3 bulkheads, springboards and diving tower, indoor hot tub, indoor dry sauna, outdoor leisure pool and outdoor hot tub.

B*K was tasked with assisting Aquatic Excellence in the assessment of both aquatic facilities. This work consisted of looking at day to day operational aspects and facility components and determining if they were in line with standards set forth by governing bodies and by best practices.
