The City of Dickinson created the community center to be a hub for numerous recreational activities and a place for community focused connectivity. The philosophy that, “Community centers should entertain, educate and promote health and well-being” was used as the philosophy for this center. The $12 million, 80,000 SF facility has a sense of openness and visual link between the activity spaces. This comprehensive center offers an aquatic center with an 8-lane, 25-meter lap pool, a leisure pool with a lazy river, zero-depth entry, sprays and water features, 2-160 ft. waterslides, a sauna and a steam room. Also included in the center is a gymnasium for multi-sport activities, racquetball courts, a 23-ft. tall climbing wall, a 65,000 SF fitness area, and an indoor track.
Ballard*King & Associates provided a market analysis and operation pro-forma for the facility.
